Pros

Diversity Work contract when employed full time English as official language Supposedly excellent pay in other departments (IT, etc)

Cons

- In the job offer it was mentioned that there would be a relocation package included which I was told only after the last round of 4 interviews that for the position I applied there was no relocation package available. - The interview process was a red flag in itself as my interviews were rescheduled several times, with my interviewer flat out not showing up for one of them. The same manager has later also quit his job a month after I was hired and the company didn't bother finding another Team Lead for months resulting in other Juniors not having any clue about who to ask for help, and Senior Staff weren't eager at all to help either. - I was hired as a Junior Photographer with a lot of promise – that I can expect regular training which would help me improve my skills and advance my career further, lots of benefits, etc. None of it had any reflection in reality, people there had been employed for 5 years working in the same Junior positions, and upward mobility in the company was scarce. - The culture was toxic, gossipy, co-workers wouldn't say ‘hello’ back, lots of frustrated, underpaid employees (Junior Photographer full-time position pays minimum wage). Zero transparency about who gets to work with whom within the company, unhelpful IT helpdesk service (I’ve had many problems with my work account, and despite asking for help they were never resolved). - Some people didn’t like the fact that Zalando decided to make English their language of communication and expressed it through not wanting to interact with non-German speakers.

Merit doesn't matter, politics do

Pros

Expensive tech stack - anyone looking to touch and work with up to date and modern technologies, you'll have them here.

Cons

This place is a woke swamp where politics, virtue signaling, and parading take precedence over merit, professional ethics, and actual work. The manager frequently shared his political beliefs, assuming everyone agreed with him. His virtue signaling was nothing more than a facade, masking the absence of true open-mindedness, transparency, and honesty. There are so many forced meetings where the whole team is required to have their webcams on, even if there are more than 10 people and the meeting is only relevant to two. The manager constantly monitors what everyone is doing on camera. I have never seen any place with so many forced meetings. This environment epitomizes the modern leftist, authoritarian, woke, cancel culture. If you don't toe the line, then you're cancelled.
