The hiring process at DAI takes an average of 43 days when considering 2 user submitted interviews across all job titles. Candidates applying for Project Officer had the quickest hiring process (on average 30 days), whereas Associate roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 56 days).
DAI is going out of its way to hire as cheap as possible although they advertise their positions with "competitive salary" lines.
They not only ask about your current salary, but actually require that you disclose the contract that confirms the number you are getting paid. They say they use it to calculate your salary at their company (if hired) by adding 5 percent to your current compensation. When I disclosed my salary (shouldn't have done that), they told me that they can offer me a salary which is around 30 percent less than my current pay because my current contract is constructed in a different way than normally. They could not answer me why I would agree to a 30 percent salary cut to my current market level pay to join them. Funny thing is they told me I have an offer even before they could tell me what salary they offer for the job.
DAI is a contractor mainly for USAID and their business model is simple - the more they save from the USAID contracts, the more profit they make. So, it's their savings and not the impact of their work that motivates the hiring (and perhaps) top managers - not a very inspiring place to work at if you look for challenge, growth and motivation.

Question 1
What is your current salary? Why do you want to work for us/this project? Why do you want to leave your current job?
I applied online. I interviewed at DAI in Mar 2021
Interview
I was emailed for an interview. I took the interview and it was relatively easy and average. I didn't get the job, but what really stood out to me was that the HR Representative called me and explained the situation and wished me luck on the future. She displayed such a great amount of empathy that is not found in the job search, that I will definitely apply to other positions more suited to my profile with DAI.

Question 1
What experience do you have with project management?
I was contacted for an initial screening via a questionnaire. Had a call with someone from HR to go over the position and hiring process, then they scheduled an interview with a 4-person panel. I heard back about 3 weeks later with an offer.
