I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Discover (Riverwoods, IL) in May 2008
Interview
Interview process was very speedy. Also was interviewing with competing banks. Discover beat the other companies to the punch and got the entire process done in almost a week: from first contact to offer letter in almost 8 business days.
Interview schedule was glitched up. They were placed too close to my flight time. The entire transport was arranged by Discover and they had scheduled my interview too close to my in and out flights. HR recruiter guy was a monkey and showed up in a sweatshirt to receive me. Never seen a less professional guy in my career. Lied about my visa application and I had to get help from my SVP to get the company to deliver on the promises they had made to me. Luckily I got his verbal promises to me in writing via email - he declined to include that in his offer letter.
Outside of that the process was smooth and very expected.
Round 1: Phone screen by HR and phone interview by hiring manager and panel.
Round 2: 3 or 4 technical interviews. Average difficulty.
Work culture is very family oriented. Benefits were quite good especially tuition program (now measly).

Question 1
If we made an offer how will your company react? Under what circumstances will you not join us?
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Discover (New Castle, DE) in Apr 2010
Interview
Phone interview consisted of an overview of position. Asked if I had any questions about position, if the hours and pay (later found out at group interview the pay was significantly lower) were acceptable, if currently employed and why I left last position. At end of phone interview invited to a 1:1 interview which consisted of a one hour call center simulation activity. Couple of days later invited to group interview which consisted literally of the top ten typical interview questions. Overall, recruiter was unprofessional. Laid back work culture.

Question 1
If your start time is 12:00, what time would you conisider yourself late?
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Discover (Riverwoods, IL) in Mar 2010
Interview
The company came to my undergrad business school to recruit. The first round consisted of two back-to-back interviews: a behavioral interview and a short case. Selections are made based on these interviews, and the next step is held on the Discover campus near Chicago (Riverwoods). The day involved a panel discussion with other candidates and managers, as well as 3 more 1:1 interviews.

Question 1
They didn't really ask any trick questions, but you better do your homework on this company and the industry. Those that didn't know much about finance fell apart in the panel discussion.
