I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Gopuff in Feb 2021
Interview
1 online coding assessment - No algorithmic question for me, just writing some simple mapping logic.
Virtual onsite - Scheduled only 2 interviews, but ended up being 3 due to a scheduling conflict. 1 technical interview involving a leetcode medium with two senior engineers. The others were more free form behavioral/technical interviews with senior technical management talking about my past experience and hypothetical scenarios.

How would you design an API for their shopping cart?
I applied online. I interviewed at Gopuff (Philadelphia, PA) in Feb 2021
Interview
Phone screen. You can get hired right after your interview. Basic questions such as "Tell me about your self." Can you work between the hours of 5pm to 4am? Are you on time?
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Gopuff (Boston, MA) in Apr 2021
Interview
Met with hiring manager. Confirmed I was a backend engineer with no recent full stack or cloud experience.
Talked about my last 7 years experience at two top tier employers.
Started coding challenge. Given a generic platform set up for Java. Asked a design question about the design of a full stack application on the cloud.
After several minutes of describing REST interfaces and distributed databases in multiple regions was told that I was not giving the data layer design that was wanted and the interview abruptly ended.
The whole interview was unprofessional and discouraging. Neither my resume, the conversation with the recruiter, nor the interview had me claim frontend web server experience in the cloud and yet the entire technical portion was focused on this.
Gopuff is a young company with young talent. Recommend steering away from them until they mature their interview process.
