Difficult - interviewer kept asking why I did certain slightly unrelated internships within finance almost trying to make it seem no matter how I tried that I was not interested in investment banking due to these other experiences.

Pretty typical for an IB. Technical questions depend on what group you are applying for. If you don't know your technicals or can't hold a conversation, you're screwed. Make sure you do your research on the company and the group beforehand, and be up to date on M&A news in general.
