I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lightspeed (Montreal, QC) in Jan 2016
Interview
The interview process was long...
I was first in contact for a phone interview with an HR person, it was mostly a very friendly conversation and I felt a good vibe. I have to say that I participated in an event where I was able to meet my interviewers.
Afterwards, I got my first in-person interview with the team of sales engineer. It was a very different interview from a technical point of view. I was being thrown with un-familiar questions, but it was an interesting experience. It was actually very human and unique, I guess they tried to figure out my personnality in every depth...
Once this interview was done. I was contacted again to present a sales pitch about lightspeed products. They gave me a scenario and I was on my own. I prepared for a week and read practically every bit informations in that timeframe. I made a powerpoint presentation.
The big day, I had to pitch to again some of the sales engineer and some management. I was nervous, because it was actually my first time doing this kind of stuff... It felt good, but I knew I lacked confidence, the pressure to impress too much made me doubt. They followed with more questions related to case scenario with clients, I was answering them with generalize response (due to my lack of experience). They were looking for my personnality type and I failed this interview.
It was worth the try I learned a lot from this. And the main interviewers gave me feedback afterwards and told me to try again. They were looking for someone more experienced / senior than me. I'm hungry and I know I'll get there.
