I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Texas Instruments in Aug 2008
Interview
some basic digital electronic principles were asked. Eg: how does an flip flop work. Some basic analog clipper and clamper circuits were asked to be analyzed.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Given an clipper circuit. Draw the output waveform.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Texas Instruments (Dallas, TX) in Jul 2010
Interview
I had an on-site interview, which is much better than phone interviews. Usually they just check out what your background is and see what practical design knowledge you have. I haven't had the math quiz that other companies have had, maybe those were just phone screens.
The people/managers vary wildly between organizations. Some are much more helpful during the interview while others seem more skeptical. One interview gave me the impression that the work/life balance wouldn' be there. The culture seems to be very negative right now.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Asked specifics about my previous work. Like, exact sizes of some of the layout just to check to see if I was full of bologna.
