Pros

None, was rather disappointed to relocate to Cape Town for a big tech company for an offer that was not all that great.

Cons

Share value declined and did not perform as projected which meant the RSU share comp portion was disappointing. The work rate is not sustainable long term, the underlying technology is not robust and so you will carry out a lot of maintenance and repairs in a day You are stretched thin most of the time. The average annual increase was 1.5% for my whole team in south Africa where the inflation rate is much higher and so that sets you back financially especially living in Cape Town. A lot of travel across Data Centers No allowances and shift meals like the rest of the AWS Data centers in other regions

Pros

If you're ambitious there's relatively always a path for you to advance in Flexible working hours Salary is below average of marketplace My manager wasn't bad at all, definitely wasn't micro management Health benefits are amazing

Cons

All teams are different so you could join a team where management is horrible, a draw of the straw type of thing. Company 401k match isn't competitive to the marketplace, (4% match) Employee retention is pretty bad, some people only truly last about 1-2 years

Pros

Good pay ' Flexible hours Good coworkers

Cons

Management rules from above with no way to ask why they make the choices they do "Two way doors" Will dangle a carrot in front of your nose to make your run but wont actually help you advance
