Challenging and Fast Paced

Pros

Amazon has been a very challenging company to work for. If you are doing it right you should never be bored. Once you are in the middle to higher levels within the company the amount of movement and the variety of projects to undertake are enough to always keep your mind interested. Growth has been essential while working at Amazon. As the company has grown so has most of it's staff with it. The opportunities for promotion and movement between teams are numerous. I have seen individuals move quickly up the organization or laterally until they have found the job that was right for them. Additionally the compensation is competitive with most other employers in it's class. Knowing that you are receiving a fair benefits and compensation package allows you to focus on delivering for the customer.

Cons

Amazon is very much an ownership based company and you will often have to determine if certain asks placed upon you are really within the scope of your role. You will often have to save face by tracking down the team that should own a project or request and ensuring a good hand-off. Amazon has also grown very large and as such it has a difficult time managing the growth of it's bureaucracy. Often the left foot doesn't always know what the right foot is doing. This at times creates redundant efforts and competing solutions to the same problems. If you do not reside on the main Amazon campus do not plan on having or experiencing many of the amenities afforded in Seattle. Inside Seattle you will find many of the offerings and accommodations afforded most Silicon Valley tech giants. Outside of the main campus however you'll find yourself in a typical office environment with some vending machines and a small break room.

Pros

Very nice place and international people to work with. I traveled and meet with nice colleagues in different clusters. they are providing fruits and an all-hands party every quarter.

Cons

The working area is so bad they try to improve it but still, it's always dirty. when we have a visit from USA they try to make everything look perfect and they buy everything missing in the kitchen. Always providing to managers iPhones, Mac notebooks, Electric desks and for regular people the cheapest thing in the market. there is a huge gap between the managers and their teams.

Pros

- Work in one of the biggest budget companies in the world. - Endless opportunities to promote, change your role within the company or even be moved. - Great relocation allowances. - Stocks.

Cons

- Boring job. - The most annoying security procedures making your go in go out from the Data Halls a slow pain in the #@s. - Procedures in general. Too many. Makes your work ineficient and very time consuming when working on simple things. - After some point you realize that the job is not challenging anymore and you get frustrated by boredom. - The requirements and specifications of the work look high but the tasks you're going to do are very simple. Most of the tools you will use are packed and "single button click", so don't expect supper fancy Linux commands and demanding knowledge at all. - Huge differences in terms of relocation packs; If you are hired as level 3 you'll get 6000 euros after taxes and only 3 shares. If you are hired as level 4 you'll get 15,000 dollar after taxes 5000 euro (after taxes) as signing bonus and lots more of stocks. - Level 3 and level 4 DCO are exactly the same. There is no difference but benefits. Very frustrating. - Shifts: forget about your social life. Expect days in which you can't get sleep because of changing your sleeping times continually.
