Pros

The company is great environment if you are looking to learn from the best. The amount of resources to develop yourself and challenge yourself is second to non. The pace is face and intense, I used to run 3-4 projects in parallel before I joined Amazon, I could not any after I joined and felt I was doing a new job every year.

Cons

I believe the company is on the decline. We can now see more and more day-2 behaviors in various organizations (risk averse leadership, lack of bold strategic vision, mid-management non-sense).

Pros

Work hard. Make history. Have fun. You work with the smartest people with the best talent on problems that other companies never face given the global scale, volume and response requirements demanded. You'll learn more in one year at Amazon than you will with five at other companies given the challenges you face given the pace.

Cons

Company has lost some edge in past 3-5 years as newer mid-/senior- level leadership have not embraced nor enforce the leadership principles as part of everyday work as was done in the past. Depending upon the team or area the workload can be excessive making work-life harmony difficult to achieve - just set your limits and you should be fine.

Pros

Can try to solve any problem (even outside your team) Lots of opportunities to solve any problem

Cons

Worklife balance due to ad-hoc requests Managers Influence Yearly Goals More Then Would Be Expected (they can single handedly sign up teams for poor goals based on misunderstanding how things work). Ad-hoc work devours employees and this is often not seen by management so they have no visibility that you are in fact swamped.
