      Decent place to work but only those on the in with management will succees and last.

      Pros

      Global travel opportunities. Good bonus/stock option program for upper level pay grades in engineering and management. Decent amount of vacation time.

      Cons

      Four to five weeks of shutdown every year. Multiple layoffs every couple of years. Only 8 paid holidays a year, embarrassing small amount for a company the size of Applied Materials. Stingy raises.

      Pros

      Opportunity to travel. Fast pace, almost too fast. Opportunity to work on next generation wafer fab equipment. Exposure to mechanisms, vacuum systems, and material science.

      Cons

      Management structure is top heavy. Management's idea of adding resources to a project is to have more managers ask when the project is finished. Engineering is expendable.
