Pros

Depending on unit or place of duty you could even have as a military member a real "work-life-balance". There are good benefits like free Health care, family bonuses or transition programs from Military Life back into the civilian world. Good pension if you leave as a Life-time carrier soldier.

Cons

A lot of older military equipment and new systems often are not working like they should or need constant maintenance/repair. Making changes in your carrier field is nearly impossible later in your carrier or very much depends on the professionality and flexibility of your responsible HR personnel at your place of duty or your Commanding officers! But, at the end the responsible personnel department in the Personal Command will make the final decisions and that could be worse...
