      Loved Commerzbank New York before the merger

      Pros

      Good culture pre-merger, focused on commercial banking. Small branch within a large international bank. Good work/life balance, with opportunities to contribute. Cutting edge technology with top level colleagues.

      Cons

      Post-merger: continuous cost-cutting with continuous change of focus: first investment banking focus buildout, then cross-selling of IB products. Finally, just trying to stay afloat as a US $ center.

      Pros

      The other review seem a little too harsh but I guess it depends on the project you are assigned to. This is a review for front office in London (investment banking) - Hard work but reasonable. Nobody stays for dinners/weekend and relaxed env. Typical work hours around 8- 18, more or less depending on the role - medium sized, big opportunities - management is good - good amount of business setup and profitable - less indoctrination than the other banks. It's a place to work not a religion

      Cons

      - as every other bank the business is not good now. Don't expect massive bonuses anymore - medium sized, with the problems associated - the typical problems of this size and type of organization

      Overview of banking industry and banking business. Exposure to consulting / corporate development topics. Learning from very driven and commited collegues. A lot of responsibilities,; own research project.

      very demanding collegues, but an advantage at the same time
