Pros

Joined them as a developer. Was put on the bench. It is your duty to somehow find work while you are on the bench. You can either do some random internal company work like cleaning up their sharepoint or wait for months till a business development manager finds you a role or spend an eternity working with a BD to help you find a role with a client when there is no vacancies. They seem to hire you, pay you a salary and hope they can sell you on to a client. Sometimes they hire you in advance of contracts being signed with a client.

Cons

There is no job security. Your job is tied to whether their client hires you. You will do a few client consultant interviews after you join DWS. You might be lucky and have a job with a client straightaway but when I joined there were 20+ people on the bench and a few were laid off. I do not know why but its most likely they were on the bench for too long.

Clearly this is not accurate. DWS has an extremely loyal client base. DWS bds do not ask consultants to find their own work. We do not ask people on the bench to work on internal projects because it is not a good way of getting projects completed. Generally most people are on bench less than 2 weeks. I would be interested in chatting to you. Regards Danny wallis ceo

Pros

Good package at the start.

Cons

1. They don’t provide employer funded parental leave. Which all other consultancy companies I’ve previously worked for and currently working with provide. 2. The Melbourne HR doesn’t not follow fair work rules and tries to get you to apply for leaves on bench. Otherwise also very manipulative and tries to show that you are being petty if you do not agree with them. 3. They don’t care about you once you are at the client site. You feel like an independent contractor at the client site. 4. Constant fear on unemployment when on bench. 5. There are no bonuses or yearly salary increments. 6. The annual review is just a formality, you never hear back from them (how would they know anything when they forget you once you are at the client’s office ) 7. The ceo packed his bags quickly when hack bought the company and the communication to employees was very poor. The weekly meetings were redundant and lacked and real information. 8. No real opportunity to grow within the company (very craft paperwork and drawings but nothing is actually applied or applicable to you when you join) 9. The policy pack is a joke and is just a random PDF on the internal website. No details provided unless you ask HR.

Thank you for your review. DWS absolutely does cares about each and every employee - the high number of very long term staff, plus the significant number of staff who return to us after exploring other career avenues, is testament to this.
