Pros

Dell is absolutely a great place to learn and grow as a professional...really fun products to work on.

Cons

The cancerous decisions being made at many levels of management are causing issues that will take a complete reversal of these decisions to resolve/remedy. Bad news is, Dell continues to be as arrogant as in the past when it was rampantly successful and can't plan for success in the future. There is a tremendous amount of talent in this company that can make almost anything happen and Dell's success needs to be driven from within (grass roots)...not from above.

Pros

Lot's of opportunities, but only if you are based in one of the so called "low-cost" locations. In those locations new functions are established, which brings a lot of excitement and activity.

Cons

Because of the moves to low cost, working with employees in "old" locations is often very political and difficult. Also it takes long before management positions are actually moved, because management is in the position to defend their own positions.

Pros

Dell offers the chance to work on a well known brand and global reach. Compensation is pretty competitive and the Austin area is a nice place to live. Products are interesting and the space is dynamic

Cons

Dell has done a great job of attracting a lot of smart, talented people but the work isn't the most intellectually demanding. The biggest challenge comes from navigating the big organization and getting the work done, rather than deep thinking or strategy. Dell also always seems to be in a stat of flux. Reorganizations are routine and information/communication isn't always the best.
