Pros

It was a great opportunity to learn to interact with the end user and try to help them with their needs. Tended to be a laid back environment when manager was not present which was very nice, definitely helped the productivity when management was not always on your back making sure you did everything by the book. There were also good discounts available for the staff as well as for customers which also made things easier to sell to the end user. The involvement of the commission structure also made things more competitive for sales within the sales team. Overall a good company to work for.

Cons

It is hard to get a promotion if you are not an ass kisser. You can have stellar numbers and great customer reviews, yet you will not get a promotion unless you are willing to suck it up and kiss some ass.

Pros

The best reason to work for Dell is the amount of freedoms provided to the employees. The work conditions are more relaxed then others. It used to have a positive culture (not the case anymore). It is a fast moving company with little focus on the micro management and more on helping the employees feel empowered. Everything within the company is transparent, you can see the position of anyone you talk to in an instant. The culture is also relaxed, the managers look like the employees and you cannot tell the difference. An equal workplace that does not focus on status.

Cons

company changes quickly, profit drives the business, easily outsourced and pro-outsourcing.

Pros

the benefits, most notable of which is the vacation which is available immediately, and the co-workers. In almost all cases, your immediate manager is a quality person who genuinely cares about you and wants to help you advance.

Cons

The executive leadership team is completely disconnected from the employees. Over the last 5 years, benefits and compensation plans for customer-facing employees have been systematically eroded to reduce operating expenses, while at the same time we see unnecessary bonuses and spending on the top tiers of management. The tools we're provided to do our jobs are also notoriously bad and none of them are integrated or speak to each other. The HR department has segments on nearly continuous hiring freezes, preventing managers from hiring replacements for lost employees, and preventing employees from seeking out other jobs internally (career advancement). Quotas are abstract and completely unrelated to the accounts or business to which you are assigned, and are often unattainable.
