Too much is on paper only rather than in the culture

Pros

Banks can be deeply impersonal places, and DB is no exception. It does try to customise the work experience more than some, but the rudderlessness apparent from the outside extends to all departments inside.

Cons

Too much lip service to competence. Examples included thousands of posters for a "matched giving scheme" that turns out not to be significantly funded to match even the donation of a single employee, Hard-coded spreadsheets with errors that noone can correct, a time-wasteful / pointless box-ticking compliance process, a lack of interest in producing the best product, but a focus on image over substance.
