Pros
American Express hires very smart people that are energetic with a sincere willingness to drive change within the organization. Though times were challenging in 2009, the company made some tough decisions, but has done a good job of reinstating some of the previous practices. I am very pleased with Ken (Chenault) as CEO.
Cons
Though the company has made significant efforts to encourage alternative work arrangements, the culture has not truly embraced these which limits employees ability to progress. Upward movement is extremely challenging if you are not located in NY or willing to relocate to NY.
