Pros

Hubspot sells one of the most interesting, solid and versatile products out there and I think it's inevitable it will become one of the largest and most established tech companies within the next 10 years. The company invests heavily in the product as well as its people. It's very agile altogether, fast-paced as all growing companies, with a lot of smart and great employees. I was only shortly employed at the company before I left for personal reasons, and the thing that stood out the most to me apart from what I've mentioned so far was their empathy in dealing with my situation. The manager and the company at large were extremely forthcoming, understanding and accommodating of my circumstances and the overall experience was altogether completely positive and smooth. I cannot stress enough how much they helped me in a not-so-great phase of my life. The interview process was quite challenging but also not absurdly difficult; it was fair, the interviewers were all nice and amicable, and the recruiter I dealt with was responsive, engaged and overall quite helpful. I would definitely recommend Hubspot as a top employer.

Cons

If I had to mention one thing they should probably look at is the way they've organized the ramp up for account executives (I don't know if it applies to other sales roles also). It may have been that it simply didn't work all too well for me because of a different, personal preference/way of doing things, but I definitely felt quite overwhelmed with the amount of stuff you're supposed to deal with already early on in the process. This is something I discussed with some people that joined same time as me and it was confirmed by them also. At the same time, I know for a fact that Hubspot has some of the best sales talent out there, so who am I to judge.

Thanks for being an account executive with us, and for the thoughtful feedback on ramp. You're not alone in thinking that is something we need to pay more attention to--the good news is there's been a ton of investment on that front in the past six months, so I think/hope folks will feel the investment in role specific support accordingly. Love the callout on the great products we are lucky to provide for our customers, thanks for the feedback! -Katie

Pros

The teams you work with are phenomenal. The knowledge combination between an internal customer facing teams, engineering product development teams, and Sales are unmatched.

Cons

Excessive use of PIPs to oust employees after multiple high revenue launches, with no explanation, actual documentation, or factual data. Reviews have been adjusted to allow for terminations post pre-approved leaves. Salaries are a joke. You are always in a cover yourself mode 24/7. Management reviews are consistently a 2 or 3 out of 5 no matter what. If a team decides you aren’t in the group, management will put you on a “unofficial” PIP without telling you, in order to surprise you at a later date. Even if they are unfounded. Beware of possibility of negative backlash post launches. They will feel the need to assign blame ( such as for timelines or issues related to bugs). Regardless of performance or level of involvement. This is an enormous company with many large paths for career advancement. But micro management is rampant, leaving little room for doing the daily expectations of your actual role. This degrades your opportunities for career advancement.
