Pros

Before the LOB merge of Concur, Ariba, and FieldGlass, SAP was widely recognized as an outstanding place to work. The company genuinely cared about its employees, which inspired them to give their best effort every day.

Cons

Following the LOB merger, internal politics significantly increased. Managers often acted as yes-men to upper management, overlooking changes that would directly impact engineering teams. Consequently, engineers were required to support a variety of infrastructures built on disparate technologies—often without the necessary expertise or training. Additionally, the enforced P1 rotations across different LOBs left teams unprepared to provide effective support. So many unnessary meetings that take precious engineer time

Pros

The people at SAP are genuinely nice, and the culture is generally supportive. The work-life balance is good to an extent, but when you're busy, you're BUSY. SAP is highly complex so expect to take a year to ramp up.

Cons

Only way to get a high salary is if you're hired externally. They do not reward employees who are loyal to the company. Closed opportunities often have to go through the Compensation Exception Committee, creating uncertainty around earnings. Prepare for constant change, whether that's solutions being removed from your sales bag, account shifts, territory realignments, or changing compensation policies. Quotas can be difficult to attain
