Pros

Possible chance of deputation to onsite client location getting a better pay than what you got in India. Some lucky ppl get to work in good technologies others are stuck with darned outdated maintenance projects. Once at onsite, lots of spare time and work only for 40 hrs and relax over the weekend.

Cons

Lots of politics, appraisals are biased, Immediate management not very competitive. Once you are stuck in a particular project, its next to impossible to get out of it unless you resign (or threaten to resign). Quality of work and learning has deteriorated a lot as people are not doing what they are supposed to do. In short, have a good relation with your immediate manager, then u get things done for you quickly.

Pros

Large client base. Talented people, have "cracked the code" on offshoring development and support.

Cons

For anyone used to working in US-based firms, the culture and politics will be difficult to understand and navigate. Internal policies and systems focus on the offshore delivery center model. Roles in the US do not fit into that mold, and obtaining approvals for simple expenses can require weeks and insanely high approval chains given the size of TCS. I needed approval from a global division head (a CEO direct-report) just to pay for a short training course. Missions of different departments are not clearly defined, so overlap and conflict are common.
