Not a place for a meaningful career

Pros

The on-site food service was convenient.

Cons

Leadership was inept from COO in West Region to CHRO to middle management. No training to adequately develop leaders. Not a career destination employer. Essentia is a place that is going to use up their people and move on to the next batch of recruits. They don't take the long view with talent. Values and practices are misaligned. If you have a choice to work elsewhere, take it.

Optimistic until pregnancy

Pros

Most employees are very pleasant and friendly.

Cons

A bit behind the times with technology, pay is OK for the area, but poor compared to the rest of the country, benefits are poor. People at higher level can be catty and put themselves at a higher standard than everyone else. If you don't fit into their click or agree with management you are puhed out. I became pregnant shortly after starting, and was bullied with write ups and verbal warnings until I went on maternity leave. Then I was denied leave and told they were going to fill my position. No compassion for the highest office in the company. HR completely backed the company, even though I was being harassed until I left.

Pros

Good benefits, friendly people, good hours, competitive pay, understanding management, good possibility of upward movement, new ideas are encouraged and cultivated

Cons

Some issues never get addressed or are stalled because of the Union and human resources trying to do the right thing. The stalling prevent some issues of being solved ultimately.
