Pros

Opportunity to work with some great companies. Bonding with other consultants over the shared frustration we all have with FDM policies.

Cons

Must be flexible to work anywhere in the UK and be able to commit to this for 2 years no matter what. FDM are not able to comprehend that circumstances can change within that time and will blindly enforce this policy regardless. Sales are incredibly poor at giving interview feedback. If you didn't get the job, don't expect to hear anything from them. Sales have no interest in your career goals or preferences. They just want to get someone into a role as soon as possible so they get their bonus, regardless of whether they're actually a good fit. Salary can be volatile. Not so much an issue in your first two years since the pay is so low anyway, but unexpectedly rolling off a project as a third year and suddenly receiving less than half your previous salary because you're benched is a little unreasonable. I have yet to find another consultancy operating in this way. Sick pay policy is ridiculous during the first 2 years. Slightly better now as there used to be no company sick pay at all during your first two years, but it's still not good enough. Up to £20,000 in training fees can be charged if you leave FDM within 2 years (sales love to remind you of this when pressuring you into a role you're unhappy with). Don't assume they won't chase you. They will, but usually only for a few grand. Seems like it's a small price to pay for some - over a quarter of my training group left within two years anyway.
