Pros

Their client base was outstanding. I was very fortunate to work for a high profile client for the full 2 year commitment and then convert to perm at the client (ideal FDM journey for most). Their support network is pretty good, if the client deems that you need certain qualifications or training, typically FDM will ensure that they will provide and fund that training.

Cons

- Very strict on the flexibility of where you work, for those dreaming of a London based role in a financial institution then it is a strong possibility but you need ensure that if you are asked to interview at another client elsewhere in the UK that you are prepared to move if you get the role. - The £20k they estimate the training at is just ridiculous, it is good training but absolutely not worth 20 thousand and they will take you to court if you break your contract so don't sign if you aren't sure you are happy to stay there for the full 2 years. - The 6 monthly catch up meetings with your account manager certainly does not happen every 6 months, more like every 10 months. - The holiday allowance is pretty poor. - The fact that you would need to drop down to the base salary of £18k if you aren't working with a client at any point in the 2 years is a bit of a risk too. - No real incentive to stay on for a 3rd year after your commitment if you have options elsewhere.

Pros

- Nice office location - good opportunity if you can't get anything else. Please bear in mind this should be your LAST RESORT! Try all other places before committing to 2 years of FDM slavery. Please disregard the 5 star reviews, they are written by FDM.

Cons

Too many to list on here, some of them are: - sub-standard training to begin with - the training is just an excuse to bill you £20,000 so you dont leave them for the next 2 years. - poor attitude to trainees throughout the company, as mentioned in other reviews - inadequate pay for London; FDM charge the client 3 times what you get paid in the first and second years - you are treated fairly on client's site, however communication with FDM is always a pain

I’m sorry to hear you wouldn’t recommend FDM after 3 years and especially your thoughts on the training received. The training is developed specifically to ensure our people excel on client sites and are able to start making a difference from day one. We do ask for a commitment of two years, which repays the initial training cost and gives security to our clients. For you though this also means you have two years (or three in your case) of solid commercial experience with our client base. We are as transparent as possible and go through the model as well as all the terms and conditions to everyone who joins the programme multiple times. We have a number of support programmes in place to ensure that our consultants are able to easily contact someone at FDM whenever they need to. These include consultant peer support ambassadors, relationships managers, business development managers, as well as HR and account management support. We also have an established mentoring programme. All of these initiatives are designed to support our people in their careers. I do accept that communication can always be improved and we have recently made a number of changes that will have a big impact here. I would I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your feedback further. Please email andy.brown@fdmgroup.com Andy Brown – Chief Commercial Officer

Pros

Great training and access to some top tier clients.

Cons

*Some* account managers have no regard or respect for the trainees and merely see them as objects on which to earn commission. They constantly fail to be considerate to the fact they are dealing with another person, who has their own career hopes and ambitions.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We appreciate and welcome all feedback and I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’ve experienced. We do have a number of initiatives in place to support you at all stages of your career journey. During training, a trainer will act as your point of contact within the Academy and arrange weekly meetings for all trainees to go over any issues. Once training is completed, we have Placement Support Officers to ensure you have the support needed to find your placement. Onsite you will also be assigned a Relationship Manager, a senior representative at FDM who you can go to for support or advice on any issue. All of these initiatives have been developed due to valuable feedback like yours but I can see there is more work for us to do to improve awareness of these initiatives and avoid situations like this where you were not aware of the support available. We are always seeking to improve and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you. Please email me at andy.brown@fdmgroup.com
