Pros

I work with some great people. Glassdoor offers a good number of perks that are great if you can step away from work and take advantage. I have had the opportunity to see a company grow and the good and bad you face through that growth. I have learned a lot about navigating the politics of the workplace which will benefit me in during the rest of my time here.

Cons

It's frustrating to try and make a difference when you are constantly cleaning up broken pieces. Great work doesn't seem to be a priority. The word firedrill is a daily constant. The leadership at Glassdoor use to seem really great and I felt supported by it. Lately it feels as if every team is trying to prove why they are winning by pointing out how other departments are losing and politics are everywhere.

Things can always be fixed. And there are always things that need to be fixed. Staying focused, and building healthy teams is critical to success in every business. This is the responsibility of leadership up and down the business and of every employee. Where you see unhealthy interactions happening speak up. Where things feel bad, speak up. And, continue to contribute as you are. The bigger we get, the more we need to communicate and work together. Talk to your manager. Talk to our team mates. We're all in this together.

Pros

The people are the best to work with.

Cons

Engineering leadership is a shadow of what it used to be and the department is suffering as a result. As the review from March 16th pointed out, the recent round of layoffs seem to target a bunch of the top performers to make room to promote yes-men in their place. Morale has been falling for at least a year and engineering leadership either doesn’t know how to fix it, or doesn’t care. Either way is a bad sign.

Pros

Great culture. Good people who care about the mission. Very low ego environment full of smart and helpful people. The company is currently going through transformation. Going from a startup culture to a larger company culture and Leadership is really trying to take the best aspects of both stages of company growth. The product is also transforming and it is really exciting to be a part of the transformation from just a company rating, reviews and salaries website to a professional community.

Cons

Working remote is great, but it impacts culture and connection. Teams seem to always be overworked and stretched too thin. I don't personally feel it, but I hear about it from other teams. Glassdoor has a very very progressive culture that is really focused on DEI. Sometimes it feels like it's a bit too much and it can be distracting or counter productive.
