H&M = Hell & Misery

Pros

You will honestly make friends for life in this place, as you will all suffer so much together you will become very close. 25% staff discount is handy. Zero discrimination against race or sexual orientation. You will get very well trained (eventually).

Cons

I will say things were not always this bad in H&M. It really used to be a fantastic place to work where people enjoyed coming to work and did not feel like they were just numbers. A lot of the bad points have already been covered by previous reviews and are 100% true. It is like a one stop shop of things not to do, i.e. make people take holidays when they do not want to, spread your personal business around the country, completely disregard the law when it comes to your 11.5 rest break between shifts, favouritism...I could literally on forever. H&M is a circus and the clowns are all the hard working teams all over Ireland who break there backs to try and do the impossible with no staff and ridiculous expectations set upon them. One common thing between all the reviews is the area team. Everything from them being rude , very little help and using scare tactics is true. This is the heart of the problem and the truly scary thing about all of this is that, when all of this comes to light they will simply say "we had no idea". These are the people who are entrusted with running this organisation within the north and south of Ireland and are clueless as to whats going on. Even when staff leaver rates have to be off the charts, as the majority of the experienced team members have all jumped ship leaving very very few long standing staff behind. They will still continue to do nothing. My Advice to anyone reading this who is thinking about a job here is DO NOT!!! Honestly its not worth it what so ever. It will crush you inside slowly and make you start to question the person you really are. My advice to any staff who might be reading this- GET OUT!! Yes its a scary prospect looking for another job but once you are free you will kill yourself for not doing it sooner. As of the day I a writing this review there are 2 reviews below me that stand out as positive in a ocean of negativity. It would not surprise me if this was someone from the area team trying to do damage control.

H&M Response

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your experience at H&M. As you know feedback is really important to us. We are sorry that after more than 10 years in the company - and with happy ones amongst these - you have decided to leave us. It is a shame that you feel you had a poor experience at the end of your employment with us and that you and your manager(s) weren't able to resolve this together internally; we encourage an open-door policy where every employee should feel they can approach management to gain support in whatever challenges they are faced with. Our values and global leadership expectations are our guides when managing or being managed. Thanks again for your review and we wish you well for your future career.

Pros

discount card that you get given well 1 month after you have started working there.

Cons

Very poorly organised, no opportunities to grow. No training given.Demand very much for the low wages it gives. No values- yet they claim to be different from other companies in that they value their workers.Extremely rude and arrogant supervisors and members of management who do not in the slightest respect or appreciate their workers. As a current employee who has worked over a year with the company and a few months in the new store (Hammersmith), I have not once felt like I have been appreciated or valued by my supervisor or manager- they constantly try to bring their workers down just because they are higher up in the hierarchy. Clear favoritism from management and supervisors. Always understaffed, meaning very few workers have to cope with an unrealistic high workload. I would honestly not recommend this company to ANYONE, you'll be in for a lot of misery and regret if you end up working here.

Pros

The staff in stores are great. The live the company values and work really hard. However it only goes as far as the stores. As soon as you get to the area team it's just a clique of bullies that have no idea what's going on.

Cons

I have worked for this company for over two years. Despite the sales advisors wage increases to national living wage as management Not once have we been able to negotiate our salarys or have a pay rise. Not even inline with inflation. There are sales advisor responsible that make more money than managers. We don't get paid over time yet are still expected to work over our contracted hours. The area team treat the management instore like criminals and are constantly using feedback as a beating stick to bully and attack anyone who doesn't agree with them or challenges them And when you do do something right it's usually not even acknowledged. They think they can do as they please and blatantly favourtise and discriminate against stores and staff in those stores. the area team do not in anyway behave in a professional manner or act inline with the company polices or with any form of integrity.
