Pros

Well, you get your birthday off...some extra time to agonize about the workload you will be saddled with when you return. The building is heated, and has a semi- functioning bathroom.

Cons

Horrible workplace culture. Teamwork... with the threat of documentation and the path through the progressive disiplinary process if the actual reality of a human component or the unforseen keeps the "team" from getting is work done in too little time. No real concept of how much time is needed to complete a task, train an employee, or build a business. Highly unprofessional attitude, bullying run rampant, the same people making the same poor decisions. Most have not worked for any other company, and think they have all the answers. The company has values that are not followed and hourly sales staff is treated like sweatshop laborers. Stores hours and staff are cut due to the economy, but expectations are just as high, leading to managers who are frustrated, and a high turnover in hourly support. Profit will continue to decline as the morale of the store and standards of merchandising plummet. Saving money on staff is the goal, but when trying to improve (or start) a customer service standard it is hurting the company's reputation in the long run. People who are savy business leaders and talented trainers and merchandisers are processing garments from the stockroom and cleaning floors..and later being held accountable for the " projects" they were unable to complete (or even start). Being able to handle stress is part of any job, but H&M takes it to the next level of being part of a regime that has failure built in.

Pros

Good benefits, flexible dress code, job openings posted internally first, open door policy, employee discount, fun place to work, above average pay

Cons

it's retail, annoying customers, district management (in New York) completely incompetent, promotions based on popularity and fraternization, decisions made in a vacuum
