Pros

If you're lucky to get a developing/designing role, then its a fulfilling job. Also, if you're a US hire, you get sent to India for 6(8 months now?) for training. The training is unbelievably simple if your a cs or cpeg major, but the time in India was something you won't get anywhere else. If you're into traveling like I am, it was an amazing time. India is a phenomenal country and the campuses that Infosys has built there are unbelievable. You get to live in India without worrying about power or water outages and you get to see a place on the planet that's so different, but so amazing.

Cons

I've worked here for almost 3 years. I spent 6 months on bench after my return to the US. I was placed on a project where I got to do most of the design and implementation which I really enjoy. That's what I like doing. The problem is that the uniqueness wears off almost immediately. At any Infy function, I feel like an outsider. Even in my office, I have three other infosys co worker's and they always speak Kanada or whatever that language is. When we have events, its a 20 to 1 ratio of Indian to American, but at my client which is not an American company, you would never know. They participate in local events, and they they do local things. They make you feel like you're part of the community. If Infosys wants to be a global competitor, they need to make us feel like we belong. If I'm going to stay here, I want to feel like I'm valued and I don't have that now. It's obviously difficult with 100,00 people, but the company needs to focus on that, if they want to grow. Outsourcing cannot last forever. As the living standards improve and the competition opens offices in India, you need to separate yourselves somehow. You need to offer something that the competition does not, and low billing rates is a temporary answer.

Pros

The training offered by the company to the fresh graduates is of exceptional quality. The infrastructure at Infosys is of world class and the company spends a lot on maintaining the campus green and clean wherever it has it's presence. If you join the company as a lateral employee, you will be offered a better pay than people who begin their career as a trainee. The pay you get when you are posted on-site is significantly higher compared to other firms. There are many retail outlets and restaurants which offer discounts for employees of Infosys. There are many recreational facilities like gym, bowling arena, etc. available in the campus for the employees to relax.

Cons

If you have joined the company as a trainee, you cannot expect to work in the same technology that you were trained on. You may have been trained in Java but while moving to production environment, you might have to work on .Net. The learning curve would be missing. Once you finish your training, you won't get the preferred location of work. If you are posted in a SEZ, then it is impossible to get a transfer. Role changes are next to impossible unless you know the tricks to woo your managers. Very few people get the opportunity to work at on-site location. The salary offered to offshore employees who began their career as trainees is relatively very less compared with other firms.

Pros

Lots of free time. Lunch time in excess of two hours. Flexible timings in coming to work and leaving. Opportunity to work abroad (in the states or Europe ) and getting paid a fair salary in those countries.

Cons

Very poor salary. Total incompetence at the managerial level. You can come to work as and when you like it and no action can ever be taken against you. Trifles are severely punished and can even be career breaking whereas serious faults are passed off with a shrug and a don't care attitude. It is also very surprising how higher management is finally never responsible of anything. Basically the bottom line is not with them. Serious work is not rewarded and only the number of years spent in the company determines the salary and not performance as is put forward by the company. Excessive bureaucracy leads to the reimbursements of business expenses being made late -very late (years after having been incurred!!!).
