Going downhill fast

Pros

Lowe's used to be a good company with decent leadership that wanted to provide good customer service and help people be excited about where they live. The culture was not amazing but it was certainly not bad.

Cons

Over the years the most recent executive leadership team has consistently started showing that they are in the business of making money and false promises to employees. They do not value employees, do not care about retaining good talent or doing the "right" thing when it comes to morals and values. It's sad to have watched it go from a positive place to work where people genuinely liked each other and liked being at work to a place where most are unhappy and/or fear for their jobs.

Pros

I've had a fantastic experience working at Lowe's India. The company's culture is positive and focuses on collaboration and inclusion. From day one, I felt valued and welcomed. Lowe's India places a strong emphasis on work-life balance, providing flexibility and understanding individual needs. This has significantly contributed to my job satisfaction. The company's commitment to innovation is impressive, encouraging employees to think creatively and contribute ideas. This focus on innovation has positively impacted our work and sets Lowe's India apart in the industry. From the onset, I've been provided with ample opportunities for development. The company invests in its employees, offering training and mentorship programs that have played a pivotal role in enhancing my skills. The leadership's dedication to creating a supportive environment has been instrumental in my professional journey.

Cons

Depending on the role, the company may have limited remote work options.

Pros

If you can negotiate a good salary then it can be well paid Stock options which pay out if you stay with the business Bonus is good Great tuition program

Cons

There are always extra responsibilities outwith your own role due to poor hiring, fragmented store teams, lack of hours or cuts to payroll. Long hours - they pay you for 40 hours but expect you to work 55 hours. Run the play - certainly within the Boston district there was no flexibility to retail. Top stock could be empty and stores full but District teams seem to not want that. Promotions are whether your face fits rather than experience, attitude and results. Store Managers should be non existent as the District team bypass them anyway. Hire & fire mentality. There is no development or focus on developing people. Poor onboarding and training in general. You will need to be self led - the company initiatives such as Lowes University are used as metrics rather than something that can add value - for example the district team focus on % active rather than what is going into it and whether the program adds value. If you are experienced and a good operator then this company will frustrate the life out of you. Wider regional team are so disconnected from store teams but roll into town and want the red carpet treatment.
