Pros

Really smart and fun people. I genuinely enjoyed working with most of the MathWorkers. People here want you to succeed. Great location - Beautiful office building, that are easily accessible via most highways. Every one gets an office, and its location (e.g. office with a window) is decided by tenure and not by your position in the company Summer outings to White Mountains, and they do a big party every 5 years ( When I was there, it was a paid trip for everyone to San Diego) Onsite cafe - Good food at a pretty low price. Good work life balance

Cons

The pay is WAY below the market average. The new opportunity that I got after MathWorks paid me $50,000 more in annual compensation. It takes a really long time (5-8 years) to be considered for promotion. No work from home policy The company is behind major market trends. For example, up until 2017, the company did not have a solution in the cloud.

Pros

1. Not many deadlines that are hard 2. Flexible time - you can come in and leave when you want. But this really depends on your manager 3. Almost nobody gets fired. You have to screw up in a big way for a long time (at least in my area)

Cons

I am an immigrant and here are cons list: 1. Many entry level employees join through EDG which is a really bad place to start at. They do not apply for a green card until you move out of EDG. 2. EDG is very inflexible and does not have immigrant friendly policies. You do not even get to take your vacation days when you want. Once you are out of EDG it gets a little better - flexibility wise but the following are still big flags for me: 3. No work from home whatsoever for new employees, new parents. You need to have a good manager who will allow work from home and this policy is very inconsistently interpreted through the company and at different levels of seniority 4. This is a private company. The upper management is treated much differently than anybody with less than 10 years of experience. 5. Hardly anyone junior employee gets promoted based on merit. The company is run like an oligarchy 6. Processes - there are long and arduous process for everything and even a simple project takes years to complete. 7. Design review feedback - You will be made to present your technical designs using Power Point to a room full of stakeholders (senior managers). This is usually followed by useless feedback. Every little thing is micromanaged by the senior management. Even a small feature can take multiple design review meetings. There are processes around getting meeting slots and inviting participants. There are dry runs for the presentations (sometimes more than one). All in all, it is a lot of effort for some feedback that is not worth much. It is quite frustrating.

Pros

1. Work life balance (If you are under good manager/team) 2. Activities (summer outing, small parties) 3. Single separate office 4. If you are in a good team/manager, overall environment is pretty good 5. Most of the managers in EPS and LTC are really smart, helpful and motivating and they make the work really challenging and enjoyable

Cons

1. Less salary as compared to other companies 2. Management would not bother about your problems if you are under a bad manager. They would try to make the manager happy 3. Many new indian managers are putting smart people on performance plans
