Pros

There's a reason so many people apply for jobs at MathWorks. And there's a reason so many stay for a long time. + Your opinion matters - even (perhaps especially) if you just started. + Lots of interesting projects, collaboration with other teams, and an opportunity to shine + A culture of respecting and investing in each other + Great work environment with individual offices, new facilities, and many perks + Profitable every quarter with a generous profit sharing plan

Cons

This isn't the right place for someone who: + wants a lofty title. MathWorks is a somewhat flat organization where titles aren't really used. + needs to work from home regularly. Work from home is generally limited to three times a year. + is a loner who likes to work independently. It's all about collaboration.

Pros

Dedicated, intelligent, team oriented employees. Dedicated, intelligent, team oriented employers. Perks, perks and more perks.

Cons

Route 9 traffic jams. High cost housing environment - the downside of bonus structure based pay is that it can't be counted upon for mortgage payments.

A great place for high performers who are also a cultural fit.

Pros

- Overall compensation (including performance bonuses) can be very good after being there a few years and establishing yourself as a high performer - How you interact and treat others is as important as the work that gets done - Smart people and interesting work - Decision-making is deliberate and thoughtful - Culture of peer reviews (of your work/project and of your performance)

Cons

- Can be hard for new people to establish credibility - Decision-making can be too slow sometimes - If you can't fit within the culture, you are doomed (I think this is more of a pro than a con)
