Stuck in a rut

Pros

There were a lot of good and talented people there, and the acquisition got the company a lot more. HR tried very hard to make things work. There are great benefits too.

Cons

Moz had a long time to figure out what they were doing and why. But they haven’t figured it out and still probably won’t. Toxic managers in charge of pushing their department have no vision and don’t even know what they are doing, let alone how to align their department to the company goals. They are more focused on keeping their job and climbing the ladder than actually doing good work. Worst of all, if you bring this up, it seems to be ignored. Or if you leave the company, your feedback is not valid because they just think you are disgruntled.

Pros

Very fun place to work. Lot's of emphasis placed on employee happiness and moral. Got to work wth the latest in cutting edge technologies and services. Pretty much got to buy whatever I wanted and expense anything i wanted. Money flowed like water. A few really smart people to collaborate with. Above average pay

Cons

Company not making enough money. Too many products to focus on. Not enough thought put into services/features before they are built. can't sell what customers don't need or want. Lot's of good people leaving. Way too much spending without near enough oversight Way too many technologies in use to support properly Lack of emphasis to reach profitability

Too much churn, too many people leaving

Pros

Great benefits, unlimited vacation, catered free food, nice office space, good location in Seattle - very close to public transit and pike place, good work life balance - no emails or work on weekends or weeknights

Cons

Really boring place to work as a software engineer. The newness of the perks wear out quickly. According to the quarterly all hands - about 20% of the employees leave the company within the first year of joining. In my opinion that is very high. If you accept a position here, it is likely that you might not be able to advance your career. The company goals and vision are not defined very well.
