Pros

There are so many opportunities for career growth through feedback, working abroad or getting the best training. Feedback is very important, and the Firm requires that supervisors provide them on a timely basis. The Firm is located in many countries and they serve the top companies so this represents opportunities for growth. Also, the staff are hardworking, young and enjoy working in teams. The people that the Firm hires are from so many different backgrounds, so all hirees can express themselves as individuals. The Firm actively takes part in serving the community as well. Staff members have the option of leading some of these volunteer events.

Cons

The hours are very long and the organization is very bureaucratic.

Pros

Great career opportunities early on. Get great industry knowledge and experience with leading companies right from the start. You work with very smart, highly competitive people that mostly are looking to succeed. The flexibility you get once you move deeper into your career is probably the greatest benefit of all. The ability to work from home and flex your hours is excellent. However, this is very difficult to do early in your career and is a benefit only realized when you are there 6+ or so years and not every person will realize it depending on your team / group.

Cons

The industry standard is very long hours and travel. We work for our clients are subject to their needs and demands as well as the needs and demands of your supervisor. This can be extremely stressful early on in your career. Promotions are given to those who are in the 'in'. I have seen highly competent people passed up for promotion while a partner 'friend' gets the promo 2 years early. As you move forward in your career, the bar just keeps getting higher as well. You always have to do more then the partner/ director/ manager promotion class before you.

Pros

Great opportunity to work in various industries and businesses especially for a person just entering the work force. If you do not know what you want to do right out of college, working for an international CPA firm provides you with the ability to work in a number of different environments. Plus the training and supervision provided by the company is very good. You will also find lots of people with a common educational background and similar age. After you have had a chance to experience different industries, you will have the opportunity to pick the one the interests you the most.

Cons

It will take several years with the company before you are given the responsibility to lead an engagement. So, you may have to bide some time with a lot of tedious tasks that do not require a lot of brain power. This is especially true in the larger assignments. I prefer the small to medium size assignments, so that you are involved with more aspects of the engagement. Plus you will have more interaction with the managers and partners in the smaller assignments. Also, there may be some periods where the work load is light and that can be rather boring.
