Pros

Good pay Decent work hours Good work life balance

Cons

Poorly managed place in the controlling side. Senior management is clueless in the controlling side so there is no motivation for anyone to excel. Worse they are transitioning jobs in controlling to Canada. So beware before joining here. Layoffs even though the bank is making money. Layoffs even for folks rated outstanding. Not because the bank is not making money. But because Toronto is cheaper. Problem I see folks in Toronto can't compete with folks in Wall Street. Management doesn't see that way though. Hope the us government makes them aware that there is a cost of doing business in us.

Pros

excellent training, benefits starts right away (not sure if it's still the case), 3 wks vacation to start, great wage for entry level jobs, great coworkers, great managers, lots of fun!! very tolerant unless you make a HUGE mistake. always encourages us to learn new things, try new roles. not too much politics.

Cons

the wage is only great for entry level positions (CSRs) but when you move up to e.g. account managers the pay is too little for the effort you put in cuz the sales pressure is high. moving directly up (e.g. CSR to acct manager to senior acct manager) isn't too too hard IF you do great with sales but if you want to change departments it's a little tougher. and for higher level positions you really need to know people. also the annual raise is so little it's not even funny. most of us rely on the bonus, which is based on both your personal and the team achievements.

Pros

- Great people in the organization - Decent benefits package - Good name to have on the resume - Great opportunity to network outside the organization

Cons

- Can be a very high stress environment, especially if you do equity/fixed income trading. FYI YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY TRADING ERRORS YOU INCUR, so be very careful or you could be stuck with a multi-million dollar loss (RBC will give you a loan to pay the amount back) and out of a job. - Won't pay for any training except the most basic courses (CSC & CPH) - Managers (branch or senior) are nice people but don't care about the associates or admin, they just care about the advisors. - Technology is absolutely pathetic "new" lenovo computers that are as basic and cheap as you can find (and lock up and freeze all the time) with 15'' screens running XP and 2003 word....
