Pros

Great atmosphere, good compensation that is at the top of the industry, a very stable and established company, great benefits including outstanding share and pension plans, the ability to take on more challenging work if requested, promotions from within the company based on your performance, a very well respected company and a leader in the industry.

Cons

The only downside I can think of is the same as all office jobs, the old 9-5 without much excitement. I guess the pressure could get a little too much for certain people at times, but in reality, if you couldn't handle it, you probably wouldn't be a good fit for the company.

Pros

As a mid-sized financial institution, RBC Bank is able to manage relationships with the "little guys" of the community on a personal level as well as provide an abundance of resources that can be valuable to the "bigger guys" in the community.

Cons

The biggest drawback for me is the lack of any real career progression planning. There is no detail as to what would need to be accomplished for someone to advance their career with RBC. Most conversations with management lead to completing a pointless personality test.

Pros

RBC Bank is a solid bank with excellent products and good forward movement careerwise. They have a good work life balance philosophy. They have an excellent benefits plan including 401k medical vacation time off and short and long term disability. I enjoy that positions are very straight forward and not complicated. Cross training is done but not really encouraged. If you're a teller you're a teller if you're on the platform you're on the platform.

Cons

RBC Bank has aggressively taken over more than it can chew it's acquisitions and hence the back office support is weak and poor service is provided to customer's internally and externally. Calling back office for support is difficult because no one is willing to take responsibility for issues that arise.
