Pros

SAIC has great overall benefits. 6% 401k match, but has 5 year vested period with 20% a year. decent vacation time.. 19 days annually, good healthcare...

Cons

The company has many sub-units that make up the company. Each unit is different. You never know what you may get.

Pros

1. The ability to work independently on meaningful projects. 2. In my case, having a supportive manager. 3. Work with smart team mates. 4. Benefits are above average. 5. Diversification of responsibilities.

Cons

1. SAIC is primarily a Federal Government contractor, as such projects come and go. This work environment can become temporary and uncertain. Job security is mixed. Yet, SAIC management does little to shift/forecast/plan employees from one project to another due to the many internal stovepipes and long standing structure of the company. 2. After 10 years of employment, I've seen little to no internal promotions. 3. Timesold (to Government) is king, this wares on you after a while.
