Abominable upper management

Business Outlook

Pros

Good co-workers at the peer level and good work/life balance.

Cons

Upper management (C-level) is absolutely atrocious- so incompetent and unethical its criminal. They are especially discriminatory and they retaliate against anyone who objects to this behavior.

Pros

Decent pay. Excellent health benefits.

Cons

Run by psychotic asian culture where if you don't work 60 hours a week, you're a slacker.

As you noted, our employee benefits are admired. Included in these benefits are flexible leave programs where employees are giving paid time off to support work-life balance as well as the option to buy and sell paid time off once per year. The welfare of our employees is top priority for SAIC and to reinforce that we also started offering an optional work program providing the choice to have every other Friday off at most work locations to help everyone take the time they need.

Fired when I got cancer

Pros

I met some neat people and clients. There are a handful of highly ethical people in Upper Management, but they are the minority. They still have a holiday party! You take PTO to drive to the headquarters building and snack on pretzels until 7. If that doesn’t say Party, I don’t know what does.

Cons

I gave up other career opportunities to try to build a career here. Their position was that cancer is not a disability. I was laid off the minute I asked to discuss accommodation. Even though I have the layoff notice, their unbelievable position was that I had left voluntarily. When I got legal advice, several lawyers told me that SAIC was the worst of the worst and simply made no attempt to follow the law. People still call me and ask “What was that horrible company you worked for? I think I know someone who applied there.” They also put exempt personnel (most everyone) on and off Leave Without Pay when work is slow.
