Laid off, only found positions for the “in crowd”

Pros

It used to be a good place. Now it’s not. Not sure SAIC will ever be able to redeem themselves in Charleston.

Cons

Doesn’t care about the 100+ employees they laid off. Not finding spots for laid off people within the company unless part of the in crowd, but instead SAIC hiring many new people from outside the company and letting the qualified laid off employees that could fill those positions go without a job. Somehow those that managed and lost two major USMC vehicle programs (public knowledge) have been kept on payroll? How does that make sense? It doesn’t, and that’s why the Charleston locations of SAIC are losing talented people to competitors at faster rates than many of us have ever seen. Big Time corporate SAIC either doesn’t care or has been lied to and doesn’t know just how bad it’s become locally. SAIC has become a four-letter word in the Charleston defense contracting world, and the butt of too many jokes to count. 10/10 would not recommend SAIC in Charleston.

Pros

The travel is awesome. Free water. Sometimes you can get within a fun contract.

Cons

The pay differential between employees is insane. Forget about pay raises. Usual is 1.5% per year (below national average). Insurance is crap. $4,500 deductible... really? That's the best yall could do? Management makes up excuses why people cant advance "oh you need this certification, or oh you need this type of degree"... when there are Project Managers without a PMP certification (how does that work?). When you get the certification and go back to tell them they make another excuse. Just bad management overall, which is sad because a lot of veterans work here i remember a day when veterans looked out for each other.
