Pros

-> Good work-life balance - quite a relaxed atmosphere; -> Free food.

Cons

-> Processes suck - it is still not clear how the work is distributed, what are the priorities, what should I work on right now when there are 5 different tasks/bug reports coming from 5 different sources. -> I don't understand what the managers are here for. My manager does not know what I am doing. I think he just stays here since late 80s waiting to get retired. -> What do I need to get promoted? This is not transparent and subjective. -> Our product sucks and people don't believe there is going to be tomorrow. When I was about to start my job at SAP, I was reading all these positive reviews and "Great place to work" reports... One thing which catches the eyes from day one are facilities - the headquarters buildings are old, look like an average university inside as opposed to all these new and shiny IT companies. Sometimes I get a feeling SAP is stuck in the 90's. And again facilities - why there is almost no one clearing the office... They vacuum probably once a week or month.

Pros

There are many opportunities to change roles and locations. The company is great at supporting people with goals to work internationally, support with relocation packages, etc.

Cons

Long-term employees find their salaries largely "frozen", with no chance to get more than a minor increase even if one takes on team management and more responsibilities.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you took the time to leave a review on Glassdoor. We want our employees to enjoy what they do and that also means to be compensated fairly. Our pay-for-performance philosophy gives freedom to managers to decide on the compensation package his/her direct reports earn. As a tech company, we unite teams all over the world and we are able to keep in touch with each other on a daily basis regardless of distance. So whether the manager is in the same country or not, he/she knows the employee the best with local HR only giving general guidance. Additionally, before changing role or departments at SAP, new compensation packages alongside new responsibilities are discussed between the employee and the new manager to ensure both parties would be satisfied with the new conditions.
