Leadership...or lack there of

Pros

Generous pay and benefits. Onsite fitness centers, cafes and clinics (in Racine). Summer hours and holiday shutdown week (again, in Racine).

Cons

Extremely hierarchical and too many layers of management. Decision making needs to be pushed down into the organization, too much needs to go all the way to the top. Some areas are overworked but others are underutilized, sitting stagnant waiting for approvals or decisions to be made. Communications is especially challenging to work with and stifle more than they support the business functions. Antiquated systems and processes. Telecommuting policy is far too rigid.

A dysfunctional "Family Company"

Pros

As a former employee of more than 10 years I was proud to be a part of the organization at least for the first 7 years. The company culture was supportive, relationship based, strong ethical values and beliefs that included employee benefits, work-live balance and profit sharing.

Cons

The last 3 years the company has gone through significant transformation in my opinion for the strengthening of profits. Plant closures, relocation of work force from the US to lower paying Asian and South American shared service centers. Large workforce reductions and outsourcing of labor which prior to the current CEO never occurred at this company, even during the depression era. Vast amounts of knowledge walking out the door, either by choice or not for other opportunities with good companies. The "transformation" of the company creating an almost hostile and corrosive culture and not one I would work in long term. Work-life balance went out the door as well with the expectation of US resources to work and be available 24/7 to support the less flexible other global regions.
