Pros

Nice people feels like a community. Managers are willing to put effort in and help you grow and learn

Cons

SALARY: Apparently the year-end review and increase is based on performance but even if you go out of your way it doesn’t make much difference. It tops at 4% so basically the value your taking home usually decreases year by year. You need to beg for extra increase or get promoted to a higher grade. (As Sideway moves don’t come with increase, just be thankful for the opportunity) WORKLOAD: is high due to the LEAN structure but in the same time this gives you more opportunity for personal growth FLEXIBILITY: 1 day working from home, flexible start times, short Fridays. This was a great benefit before pandemic however this is clearly not enough nowadays and shows how the company doesn’t consider the market trend. This is the main reason people leave the company alongside with the below the average salaries.

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for the comments regarding your community and efforts of managers. Please know that our Total Rewards team consistently benchmarks our salary and benefits packages to ensure we’re aligned with markets and industry. Some examples of support we provide for team members and their families we're proud to offer include subsidized health care benefits, maternity/paternity/adoption leave, recreation and fitness centers, vacation purchase options, flexible work arrangements, counseling services, childcare support and more. Different countries have different offerings, but all are competitive in the local marketplace. We strongly believe SCJ people are able to achieve their best when they can collaborate and work together in person. We recognize this may not be the preference of some and appreciate that may be the case. But we are committed to maintaining our unique culture by attracting and retaining SCJ people who are aligned with our common values and purpose of working for a better world.

Pros

The benefits and pay at SC Johnson are great, and there are awesome opportunities for career progression for those who are good at their jobs. You also get to work with household name brands that have recognition nearly across the board. The people who work for the company are also generally very friendly and passionate for what they do.

Cons

Training for new employees is astoundingly poor. For the top shelf talent that already knows what they are doing, this should not be an issue. However, for new graduates that are still learning skills involved in day-to-day responsibilities and how to navigate the corporate ladder, there is absolutely no way to learn besides trial and error. Also for what may be typical of most larger companies, SCJ is extremely hierarchical and slow. You will spend the majority of your time working only with the intent of seeking the right approvals from the right people, and pandering to leadership only to make yourself look good. This creates an environment where may individuals are solely focused on helping themselves or seeking to benefit from any interactions you may have with them. Furthermore, there is absolutely no future for employees whose management does not fight for them. Sadly, the company is also moving towards more of "dog eat dog world" type of company culture now that leadership has shifted priorities for where they want to take SCJ. What used to be a "Family Company" is now becoming just your normal P&G-esque bottom-line corporation.
