Pros

Software AG has completed a very successful acquisition of webMethods. Coming from webMethods, some people were sceptical and expected Software AG to swallow up webMethods. But it has truly merged webMethods into the company, making significant organisational changes along the way. Software AG has managed to retain a lot of what made webMethods special and to transfer a lot of that pride in the company to the new merged organisation. And such a large company brings with it more stability and excellent opportunities for career development.

Cons

The company now has a size where it is impossible to know everyone and everything. This is not due to any failure in the merger with webMethods, but a simple side-effect of working in a 4000-employee global organisation.

Pros

Very good, very well received, industry leading products, great benefits, good office locations, commitment to excellence by management, lots of long term employee's provide a rich culture, many opportunities to travel worldwide

Cons

The constant strive for profitability can be a drag on moral, but now that they have paid their first bonus since the aquisition of webMethods, everyone really appreciates actually getting a bonus and getting a very nice bonus.

Pros

Software AG is at its heart a German company, despite the acquisition of webMethods which had its principal headquarters in the US. German companies tend to value their employees and the obligation of the employer to be a stable and reliable source of employment. This emphasis on stability and long-term planning is often misinterpreted as it does result in cost control as well as a measured pace of innovation. But cost reductions are implemented in order to save jobs, and this results in improvements over the long term in the experience base as well as relationships one develops both with colleagues as well as with customers and other stakeholders. The company takes very seriously the relationship of employment and its responsibilities. This results in a stable and beneficial work environment, if you can temper your expectations and allow the company to gently surprise you over time. This is not the kind of company that you should try to impose your own expectations and preconditions on. If you're able to understand the company philosophy, you can negotiate a successful relationship with this very far sighted company.

Cons

As with any company, working outside of the headquarters office is a challenge. Remaining plugged in to the latest initiatives requires a lot of networking as well as some additional effort.
