Pros

Great way to get to know your community, coffee benefits are nice, training is petty thorough, career opportunities are there, but have to be friends with upper management

Cons

micro management, low pay, work safety issues, hard on your body, pretty fast paced environment, uniforms are terrible. Co-workers are burnt out. People can get nasty

Pros

Work life balance is decent considering retail normality. At many retailers it is almost impossible to request weekends off and not feel bad about it. At my previous store manager position, I missed so many family events because "the weekends are the busiest times and we need you there." Also, at least in San Francisco, store managers typically work 40 hour work weeks unless dire circumstances which happen from time to time.

Cons

Dog and Pony show. Recent downsizing may hold back for future growth. Senior managers love coming in and pointing out everything thats wrong and not enough or any on things that are good. I am located in a very successful store, but still fill the need to speak for Starbucks managers in general.
