Pros

Good paycheck every week, guys will take your overtime, company van, donuts at service meetings sometimes

Cons

I have worked for 2 different elevator companies for almost 30 years and the TKE branch in Vegas is a nightmare. Personally, I had to get out of there and a lot of the talent has fled and moved on since the current branch manager took over a few years ago. My past branch managers were pure heaven compared to the evil mini me that runs this branch. The field employees and even the managers were continually threatened with their jobs, humiliated in front of other employees in meetings and favoritism went to the weakest and meekest. Part of this favoritism was based on the branch manager's sharing of certain personal habits with particular employees. This branch was run like a prison cell with the warden and his favorite inmates running the show. Company policies and safety policies were violated all the time and some pretty serious incidents were covered up. I don't even know if TKE corporate knew what was going on and they might not care because this branch made money for them. Some things are never meant to be understood I guess but don't bring yourself or your family to work here at this branch.

Pros

Benefits were good, but of course got less and less. Salaries are good only for management and sales. Any employee who is not management or sales can forget about being compensated even at fair market value.

Cons

Salaries raises and bonuses could be better. Management enjoys a bonus structure based on the performance of the little people, which is highly unfair but is a common practice. Many times employees will be denied promised raises and bonuses, etc. because of bad numbers; while management is still awarded bonuses and raises behind closed doors. Raises are a bit disappointing as well, but probably matches the market - maybe 1.5%-2%? Business models keep changing with little to no planning at all. Recent "restructures" caused an influx of hiring too many unqualified people to perform functions that were split up based on the oracle hype. Many of the new hires would have performed part-time functions AT BEST. This of course caused many complaints from new hires of not enough workload, while the dedicated and qualified long-time employees were stuck cleaning up mistakes, figuring work-arounds to function in oracle, being forced to take on more work than should have been allowed and basically trying to keep things afloat in a chaotic environment. The idea that was sold to everyone at that time was that the oracle restructure was to 1. Meet demands of supply chain 2. make everyone's job easier - this clearly was not true, as evidenced in bad numbers and the fact that simple functions became astronomically more difficult; slowing business flow to a crawl, and causing the highest amount of customer complaints than I have ever witnessed in many years. The second "restructure" caused mass lay-offs, including most of the qualified long-time workforce that loyally persevered through the many changes that were forced upon everyone. To date, there are supposedly "more changes to come." POOR MANAGEMENT. From the top down, this has been a painful epidemic that has cost this once thriving company and transformed it into a toxic hot mess of confusion and bad numbers. The people which are hired to manage are not qualified. TKE doesn't really promote from within that I have seen (unless you are currently management or sales). Some of the management that I have seen over the years would not even be qualified to perform as a lower ranking employee, yet they are rewarded time and time again for harassing subordinates . Management's style is one of intimidation, heavy discrimination, lack of communication, zero positive leadership, and sweeping lack of moral fiber. Managers are free to make bad decisions carte blanche, and never have to answer for the ramifications of such bad decisions. Basically, the little people are held accountable for the bad decisions which management makes repeatedly; lower employees have to scramble to resolve issues all the time. Working in that kind of confusion is an unrealistic expectation. There is lots of finger-pointing in the wrong direction, which is counter-productive and bad for business. Too many sordid and unqualified chiefs are trying to run the show and not enough qualified workers are there to do the job correctly. Accountability is at an all time low. TKE needs to fully execute mandatory performance reviews for every employee immediately. This would help improve TKE's reputation by only employing accountable people. And accountability = better business, which = more profits. Management is always preaching profits and bottom line, etc. If that is part of the goals, then take the proper steps to make it happen and stop placing blame on the folks that had nothing to do with bad executive decisions in the first place. Customer service is pretty much null and void. This company used to pride itself on good customer service. If they were to analyze customer surveys now, or even just pull cancellations or lacking sales numbers--well, "the proof is in the pudding," as they say.
