Pros

Multinational Fortune 500 that you can be proud working for, numerous possibilities for career advancement worldwide, they have a good medcare plan. The company's prestige and reputation open doors in sales. ThyssenKrup Elevator has good products and knowledgable people. Company car is supplied, gas card, car maintenance all is included. ThyssenKrupp is the market leader in the Americas in elevators and other vertical transport devices. The Texas based technical service centre do very good work in training, competition benchmarking and phone and online support of the field mechanics. TKE have branch offices in every major city on the continent. TKE

Cons

One big downside is what another user has already mentioned, and I can confirm it: Heavy administration (meaning a lot of paperwork), There's a lack of leadership and discipline that leads to unsatisfying services to customer. Some employees are more equal than others, i.e. lack of clear rules as to goals, budgets, bonus plans, remuneration. Mistakes are not discussed but rather hidden. Team spirit almost inexisting although it is crucial in a business where sales and field mechanics depend on each other . The company builds its success on buying smaller local service providers rather than growing naturally by earning customers trust.

Pros

Gas card, car allowance, and some easy commissions. Manager was very flexible when dealing with time off, etc. It is good to go out and deal with all different sorts of people, property managers, owners, etc. Very easy money converting new elevator purchases to extended warranties; most owners of new elevators want to stick with original manufacturer.

Cons

Poor management, no communication, complete lack of training. "Training" consists of going out in the field for 3 months working with the mechanics. Basically you are a helper for this amount of time, and though I do place value on being out there with these guys, there are many aspects of the business that I was required to learn on my own. Ungodly amounts of paperwork. Service manager had to approve hours and material on every repair order (before delivered to customer) so had to rely on whatever was convenient for him. These could have only been a challenge at my branch, but all of this was enough for me to leave.
