Pros

Stable and great work environment. Some of the mangers are very supportive of the employee while some does the Mega Micro Management which it really hurts. But for the last 3 yrs Target has opened shop in India and slowly moving all the development work there. There are some really good people who have advanced very well in short period of time. Overall I would say it's a great place to be for the job stability and for women to work.

Cons

You have to take very active role to get promoted to the next level. It's not that you get to the next level after some years of work.

Pros

If you are going to school and need flexible working hours I would suggest target. They have some very lenient policies on scheduling and for vacation and time off. They are very ubiquitous with their transportationa nd outside activities.

Cons

They hire outside management so they usually have no idea how to do your job or how best to communicate down.

Pros

You meet new people who are just trying to make a little money just like yourself. The training is straightforward and usually whoever is training you is genuinely nice.

Cons

As a cashier, they will actually time how fast you ring customers up regardless of how many shopping carts and items that the customers have. Depending on who's supervising, you can get a very rude remark, telling you to pick up the pace. If you're setup at a register near the clothes area, be prepared to waste time trying to ring up clothes (some have price tags missing). Even for part-time, the work schedule is not as flexible. It can get very boring on a slow day and on a busy day it can get extremely hectic but that's typical with most retail stores.
