      Not a good place to start your career

      Pros

      If you work at TCS, you have one of the best job securities. You will never get fired unless you are really really very bad at work. Because of this you will find many incompetent people in TCS and some in high positions too.

      Cons

      If you join them right after college, you have no say in which project you will work on. It could be just anything. A manual testing job, data entry, development (very rare) etc. It will be very difficult to change the project you are working on even if you want to. They have a crazy appraisal system. Employees never seem to be happy.

      1) has become too large in numbers and unmaneageable for the HR 2) people are treated with scant value 3) lack of clearcut career paths 4) no visible growth path

      Weak HR Support

      Pros

      The company is growing rapidly in numerous markets, which provides interesting opportunities to watch things established from the ground up. There's a great deal of independence on certain things, mostly stemming from being on fairly small teams.

      Cons

      The firm has very weak HR processes for US employees. There is little to no support in the initial weeks; I spent my first week of work doing nothing because they didn't have an email address ready for me and my boss wasn't at work. Things don't get much better the longer you are there; communication is minimal and it's challenging to figure out who to talk to about a certain subject. For over two years, I've been asking about career path and opportunities for advancement and no one has been able to answer the questions. My boss is less informed than I am about how things work. They seem to expect an inordinate amount of patience and hard work from their employees without giving them any idea of what the benefits are for that.
