Great Pay, Good Benefits

Pros

UPS is stable, and reliable to both its employees and its customers. .

Cons

The trade-off for the great pay, good benefits, and reliabliity, is the inability to enjoy the fruits of your labor. If you work in the operations capacity, you are owned and the expectations are unreasonable. A regular workday is 12-14 hours and it's expected without putting it in writing, or crafted with AM and PM assignments and expectations. Long days, no rest, no vibrance, no innovation coming from those who are on the front lines. All are worn and ready to leave the company; but will only say so amongst their peers. Some are too close to retirement to walk away. The younger management team is not in it for the long haul, and UPS will be facing some serious turnovers with both retirees, and millennial supervisors and managers who don't find having a career with no life very attractive.. Also the heavily unionized environment with vague union rules, don't recognize the company's performance standards, and it makes it entirely difficult to hold low performers accountable to performance, by which the management teams is held accountable.

Pros

Money and benefits. You are paid well after you do your wage progression under the union contract.

Cons

Hypocrisy rules! Management lies! As long as you do your job and be a "yes sir" type of person, you will survive. You will be backstabbed right after being told how good you are. If you call in sick, you will be backstabbed even more. Just show up for work, shut up, do not cause any problems and you will do well
