      Pros

      You need a paycheck and you don't have any other options. Of course, some of the businesses are better run than others, for example, the US tax business is more successful and better run than many of the other US businesses.

      Cons

      Poor management, lack of strategy, decisions based on politics not business, crumbling infrastructure, unable to innovate or execute competently on even the biggest most well-funded projects. This company is not just left behind by the competition, even our customers are innovating better and more rapidly with their own content and they are not professional information companies

      Stability of a large organization meets flexability of market focused busines units - great place for change leaders!

      Pros

      Flexability and ooportunity to contribute. Wolters Kluwer is a very large orgnization, however they are strucutured into smaller market focused business unit. There are differences in culture from one business unit to the next. The financial services unit is great place to be if you are market focused and like to effect change. This unit has proiven over the past couple years that it is nimble and flexiable enough to respond to market conditions and change in ways that make the most sense for the business.

      Cons

      Large organization that can be difficult to understand and navitgate at corporate level. However, consolidation fo information sources is making this easier.

      Pros

      if you work hard and smart, you will be allowed to work from home and take time off almost anytime. Comp time is awarded for most individuals, as long as you don't abuse it.

      Cons

      Winter vacations cannot possibly happen. This is a tax company, so the tax development season stretches from October to March, and can be very very hectic at times.
