Horrible place to work

Pros

4 weeks PTO plus 12 holidays right after hire. 6 weeks PTO after 10 years.

Cons

Horrible managers. CCH software development dept for Prosystem fx ran like a sweat shop and you're treated like you're a kid. Constantly getting emails about stupid and petty stuff. Expected to work 55-60 hours from Oct- Jan regardless of getting your own work done. Dept plays favorites. Let's some work only 40 and constantly harass those that don't. The VP's for Prosystem fx are complete idiots. They only care about the bottom line. Negotiate as high a salary you can because you'll be lucky to get a annual raise. It's not based on performance. The dept gets a pool of money each year and has to divide it among 100 people. Each lead is forced to run their team like the military. If you like your lead to hold your hand and constantly look over your shoulder then this is the job for you.

Plagued with systemic problems

Pros

Standing desks, good work/life balence, bonuses

Cons

No project managers, products are managed in silos with little to no coordination, strange political structure empowers people well outside of their area of expertise to make big project decisions that largely go unquestioned until problems arise, lack of experienced devs limits project scope, employees tend to be either complicit to management-level dysfunction or are hopelessly overworked, decision-makers aren't held properly accountable so blame trickles down to production-level employees, uncertainty and anxiousness are the default emotions for most employees

Pros

people don't work too hard, so there isn't much pressure on you to work hard, either. good pay, good benefits. people were nice

Cons

"go along to get along" culture means that new ideas/perspectives are tolerated, at best. everybody is just keeping their head down to get a paycheck. you aren't really growing or being challenged. they will heap praise on you for doing the bare minimum. your colleagues, though nice, will hold you back if you ever try to actually accomplish anything. if you take another job for five years, then come back, it will be the exact same conversation-- like, nothing happened.
